April's Book Choice

The votes are in! Thanks to everyone who voted, and for those that didn't, I hope you can join us next time.

Leading by three votes, the book you chose to read for April is...

Wither by Lauren DeStefano!

What if you knew exactly when you would die?

Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five, and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.

When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her, and a tenuous trust among her sister wives, Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.

But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant Rhine is growing dangerously attracted to, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limted time she has left.

What an awful premise for a book. I'm against sexual slavery of any kind and this sounds like a horrible world to live in. Plus I'm 39...I'd be dead already. Ay carajo.

Hehe I always love your comments, Mike! I think the premise sounds interesting, but you're right, it's also a little depressing!! I voted for this book And don't worry, I would be dead too--I'm 27!

I like the premise too. I wasn't sure on it at first, but it really works in the book. I would totally be dead, too! But it's really a fascinating world. Great pick!
I've been wanting to read this one. I really like the cover!
Yeah, I've really wanted to read it, too! A lot of book blogger got ARC copies, so I've seen the reviews up for a couple of months now. I'm excited!! :)
